My favorite part of the book was the allegory. As a Christian, seeing the symbolism throughout was amazing. I got teared up at times. It definitely reminded me of Narnia, just different. It was really clever! The figure appeared over my sprawled frame in snow-powdered boots with silk laces that gave off the potent scent of sweet spices and pending excuses. He or she was a solid shadow against the sun burning through the yellowish fog overhead. His struggle to believe was something that hit pretty hard. He kind of reminded me a bit of Thomas in the Bible. I really want to know what’s going to happen next and what adventures are coming from this author. As I said, I enjoyed reading it but there are some things that made my reading go slow. I have to say the characters are really good and definitely I love them. If you want to give it a try do it, it’s really interesting and entertaining but keep in mind what I just wrote. There was nothing wrong with Helen. I didn’t have anything against her and her personality didn’t particularly annoy me. Having said that, I also had trouble connecting with her at times. I think the author wanted her to be an average teen, which I totally get. While I did enjoy watching her bravery develop, I also craved one more layer or something interesting to remember her by. Would I Recommend?

Helen receives a glass ball on the street from a girl she doesn’t even know. And all of a sudden, strange things start happening. Her eyes are now able to see a whole different fantasy world. A boy named Zane then explains what the glass ball is. And he warns her that her life is in danger. A witch with a soul as cold as frost will be coming for both it and Helen’s life, with everything she’s got in her power. This is a story I enjoyed reading but it was really hard for me to finished it. This book is a fantasy, action story. The author really respected and follow this two genre but it also (although I haven’t seen anyone talking about it) has mystery which in my opinion was written in a very specific way for the reader to really see every scene and every character as a suspect. Past their rippling current, I noticed a store wedged between a luxury clothing boutique I could never afford to shop in and a barber shop. The new store fit like a puzzle piece, nestled snugly into the alley between the two buildings. It imparts that lovely cosiness of a good tale told by a bard next to a roaring fire, mostly because of the vivid and absolutely enthralling descriptions, but also because sixteen-year-old Helen Bell is one character any reader is bound to root for. The Chronicles of Narnia meets Harry Potter. This fantastic winter tale is the perfect blend of classic portal fantasy and the magical world co-existing with our own. This magical Christian fantasy adventure totally hits the spot and got everything right. It is a beautiful reminder of what is truly important in life." ( USA Today best-selling author Astrid V. J.)My gasp was lost in the cold wind drifting down the walkways overcrowded with holiday lights and Ontarians in multicoloured mittens. But the street wasn’t just busy with the usual Waterloo crowd, it was also busy with birds. It's the Chronicles of Narnia meets Harry Potter. This fantastic winter tale is the perfect blend of classic portal fantasy and the magic world co-existing with our own. It's a beautiful reminder of what is truly important in life."

Open my…what…? I got the strangest impulse to turn and run—a nervous reaction to her husky, outlandish blabbering and harsh features. The spark had become a torch behind her eyes, her irises glittering like the diamonds in the jeweler’s window. I smooshed my face against the window, my hands cupping around my eyes to see where he went. But beyond where the boy had been, two dozen beings of unnatural height congregated around tables, hunching to fit beneath the ceiling. The sight sent a barrel of heat rolling through my stomach. Pointy ears and long noses protruded from their heads, hidden only when they sipped from their steaming mugs. Some of them had to be as tall as the lampposts outside. The chemistry between our two main characters was really interesting. It made me laugh, cry and mostly laugh. And we all could relate to our female protagonist in some ways. This story didn't exaggerate anything. What I mean to say is that Helen was shown as a normal human being who got tired and didn't know a thing about what to do but the character development was great as she grew brave as the story kept moving forward. This is how Helen's magical journey to Winter begins. A fast paced adventure with hurdles at almost every corner, full of bravery, epic battles, sacrifices, prayers, hope and quite a bit of fun.

Glory to Elowin! It was a stifled muffle through her facemask as she cast one last look at me and slapped the medallions together.

I slid into the chamber where amber light danced along every surface from the candle on the coffee table, and I dragged a chair across the rug Sylvia told me she found in the Middle East, biting my lips when the chair leg caught a tassel and ripped it right off. A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" - Nikki Mitchell, author of Nightshade Forest First of all It’s full of adventures, we can read many times how the main characters are in constant movement, there is always a danger, there is always mystery there is always something happening, which I found awesome. The dialogues in my opinion had a lot of sarcasm (at least from the main male character) this gave him a very strong personality and definitely made me laugh because of it.I remember there were scenes where I would wonder, “So, what’s the villain doing? Oh, she’s still walking toward him with a sword. She started that three paragraphs ago…” For me, these instances pulled me out of the story and made it difficult to continue. Helen Clatters echoed through the street like popping fireworks, and a fountain of snow burst up from her boots, its snowy fingers twisting upwards and swallowing her entirely into its throat.
