I also listened to this playlist of dark academia music while I read the book and it was LIFE CHANGING: https://youtu. What has this toxic enneagram 3 motherf*cker ever done in her life to make someone think she's got emotional depth? Alternating between flashback chapters that take place during Jess’ time in college in the lead-up to Heather’s murder, and present-day chapters that follow the increasingly sinister events of reunion weekend, IN MY DREAMS I HOLD A KNIFE weaves an immersive tale of friendship, betrayal, love, and deadly obsession. This reunion at Duquette, then, is more than just a chance for old friends to catch up—it’s also a chance for someone with close ties to the group to unmask a killer in their midst.

Playful and irreverent, spine-tingling and spooky, The September House puts a fresh spin on the classic haunted house story, delivering an immersive tale about the secrets lurking within one building’s walls, and within the lives of its inhabitants. Fans of books such as The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will find this book captivating, as will anyone who enjoys being led down a winding, frightening path. Not the persona that they have displayed for all their fellow classmates, but they real person they are- when no one is looking.Everyone is going to see the girl she wants them to see—confident, beautiful, indifferent—not the girl she was when she left campus, back when Heather’s murder fractured everything, including the tight bond linking the six friends she’d been closest to since freshman year. I’ve been so excited about this book for weeks now—next to For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing (another absolute must-read) it might have been my most anticipated thriller of the year. Now, a decade later, it’s time for the big ten-year class reunion, but only five of the seven will be attending. And unfortunately, that meant that some of it did feel obvious to me, but I also felt that this one was much better written and much more engaging, so overall it helped me to see the qualities better.

When the six friends are reunited, they will be forced to confront what happened that night—and the years' worth of secrets each of them would do anything to keep hidden. An astonishingly sure-footed debut, In My Dreams I Hold a Knife is the definition of compulsive reading. BLOOD SISTERS is a gripping mystery about a Cherokee archeologist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs who is summoned to rural Oklahoma to investigate the disappearance of two women…one of them her sister. The novel has some surprising revelations, and one stunning final admission that I didn’t see coming. So much time was wasted on trivial passages that were totally unnecessary and certainly did not enhance the story. Special thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

It was impossible to put down and I thoroughly enjoyed the dual timelines and different points of view. There was even a love story (not taking too much place, but just enough to add some romantic tension). Because she seemed unlikeable to me, I failed to understand why two of the men in her group loved her, and her inability to choose between them. If you enjoy psychological thrillers about people with secrets, I recommend you check out Winstead’s debut novel. The case was never solved, though a cloud of suspicion still hangs over one of the other group members. At a certain point, I forgot there was a murder to solve, I was just enjoying the characters dynamics. Thank you to Edelweiss and Sourcebooks for the ARC of In My Dreams I Hold a Knife in exchange for an honest review. They all gather back at the prestigious Duquette University for their ten year Homecoming reunion, and secrets hidden begin to come to light. Told in racing dual timelines, with a dark campus setting and a darker look at friendship, love, obsession, and ambition, In My Dreams I Hold A Knife is an addictive, propulsive read you won’t be able to put down.
